Education Amendments of 1972
These amendments guarantee equal opportunities for pregnant and parenting students. Pregnant and parenting students cannot be denied the opportunity to participate in a program, take a certain course, or participate in a school related activity based on parental status. Also, a person can not be denied opportunities based on sex. Because of the Grove City v. Bell case, Title IX only applies to programs that receive state or federal funding.
