Mariah Burton Nelson
Former student athlete at Stanford University in 1974, Mariah Burton Nelson, recalls the condition of the women's gym and uniforms. "Our gym was very claustrophobic. Our fans had to sit on one bench between the sideline and the wall. Our coach was an unpaid graduate student. Our "uniforms" were red shorts and white t-shirts, over which we tied red pinnies."
Mariah and her teammates would sit in the athletic director's office and complain about their gym and uniforms. They accused him of not enforcing Title IX.
