What is Title IX?

Passed in 1972, under the Nixon Administration, Title IX prohibits discrimination based on sex in education programs.  The same applies for activities, such as college athletic prorgrams that receive federal financial assistance.

Thesis

Since Title IX's passage in 1972, debate has continued to this very day. It has given women and young girls the opportunity to play in sports in elementary school, high school, and at college levels. Also, it has given opportunities for women to receive scholarships. While many believe it has created equal opportunities for all, some feel that it has taken away opportunities for men.
