Social Impact and Opportunities Created
Because of Title IX, there has been an increase in female athletics of 847% since 1971. There has been a significant increase of women in medicine and law. Now, the majority of people enrolled in college are women. In fact about 54% of the people that enroll are women. This is a very big opportunity. Considering before Title IX, some colleges and universities wouldn't even think to accept a woman. Funding for women's academic scholarships has increased. Therefore, women can aquire the knowledge to receive higher level jobs.
In 1971, about 7% of women participated in varsity sports. By 2001, nearly 41.5% of women participated in varsity sports. In 1966, 16,000 women were participating in intercollegiate sports. By 2001, that number jumped to more than 150,000. TItle IX has improved funding for women's sports, and created many opportunities. The WNBA, the Women's World Cup, and the Women's World Cup of Softball was created. Women are now allowed to participate in the Olympics. The female participation in athletics has increased from less than 300,000 to almost 3 million.
Not only in athletics and education has Title IX helped women, but also in the work place. Before the Sexual Harassment area of Title IX, many people just said "boys will be boys". It has changed the working enviroment, and now women can perform their jobs without fear of being sexually harassed.

Economic Impact
Though Title IX has created many opportunities for women, mens teams have been dropped. This would be one of the negative impacts of Title IX. The mens teams that are being dropped are the ones that may not be as popular. These are the teams that provide little or no revenue. For example mens tennis, gymnastics, and water polo are all sports that have been dropped. In 1972 there were nearly 400 wrestling teams. By 2009, it had lowered to 224 teams. Water polo used to have 52 teams, but now they only have 42.
